MODALITIES: DESCRIPTIONS AND DISTINCTIONS

MODUS OPERANDI AND FORMATION MODALITY:

Modules: hANDling (Introduction + Unfolding) & LANDscape (Deepening)

The continued axis of the School of Reparar invites you to attend the full training course, made up of intensive and extensive hANDling modules, introducing and unfolding the MO_AND, and the LANDscape module, for immersive experience in the ritual dimension of the practice and in body-territory games.

Full participation in the (trans)formative modules of the School's continued axis offers complete training in the constellation of conceptual-tools and practices (games and rituals) of the Mods Operadi AND, taking place over 3 months of sustained practice, fostering the cultivation of autonomy and the singularity of each practitioner.

The starting point is the hANDling intensive workshop, May 10 and 11. This module will present the main conceptual tools that make up the ethical guidelines of the practice and the basic principles of the AND board game, led by Fernanda Eugenio, creator of MO_AND and director of AND Lab.

This will be followed by the extensive hANDling lab, consisting of 9 weekly meetings, on Thursdays between May 15 and July 17, led by Fernanda Eugenio and/or Mariana Pimentel, assistant director of AND Lab, coordinator of the AND Lab Brasil Network and member of the AND Collective. In this module, we will go through the MO_AND Games constellation distributed in the Interference Zone (focusing on the relational dynamics of society, community and intimacy), the Transference Zone (focusing on the formulation and embodiment of affection) and the Care-Curating Zone (focus on the body-soma as a territory of repair).

The training process culminates in the LANDscape retreat, a week-long immersive block, from July 25 to August 2, combining studio and outdoor practices to address the theme-issue, chosen each year for new (un)foldings of the methodology.

In the interlinking of the different modules, the new continuous axis allows us to build a consistent relationship of intimacy with the Modus Operandi AND, offering a complete training process that covers its entire constellation of games and tools, as well as the ritual and somatic-political dimension of the practice.

.

While the hANDling modules invoke the semantic stain of the verb 'to handle' to signal a double commitment - to the ethics of handling, as opposed to manipulation, and to the giving/offering of our tools - the purpose of LANDscape is to enable the incorporation of AND ethics through a process of self-repair mediated by the more complex somatic and political-affective embodied propositions of MO_AND.

RESIDENT ARTIST MODALITY:

Modules: hANDling (Introduction + Unfolding), LANDscape (Deepening) & stANDing (Residents in Creation)

The continued axis of the School of Reparar welcomes up to 3 people interested in participating in the School of Reparar's (under)stANDing research-creation plan, in parallel to attending the full training course, consisting of the intensive and extensive hANDling modules, introducing and unfolding MO_AND, and the LANDscape module, for immersive experience in the ritual dimension of the practice and in body-territory games.

Full participation in all the modules of the School's continued axis offers, on the one hand, complete training in the constellation of conceptual-tools and practices (games and rituals) of the Modus Operandi AND and, on the other hand, for the year's small group of resident artists, it includes the possibility of creating with MO_AND while it (re)creates itself, incorporating themselves for 5 months into the ever-in-process research-creation framework in which Fernanda Eugenio works, from a different issue-theme each year, on new (un)foldings of the AND methodology.

In this modality, each resident artist is involved in a process of individual creation in position-with the theme-issue of the year, accompanied by Fernanda Eugenio, based on an auto-ethnographic work, which invites each one to map in their affections the ways in which the theme-issue of the year manifests itself and to construct, in dialogue with the AND tools, an individual artifact that can take on any interface (performative, installation, visual, audio, audiovisual, etc.), depending on the areas of interest and work of each person. The process consists of 6 assisted creation sessions with Fernanda Eugenio, on Fridays from 10am to 5pm, distributed throughout the process; space for autonomous work in the studio (7 Saturdays throughout the process and 23 days of summer residency in August, at free times to be arranged between the group of resident artists) and a final presentation as part of AND Lab em Festa.

Participation as a resident artist at the School thus runs from May to September. The starting point is the hANDling intensive workshop, on May 10 and 11. This is followed by the extensive hANDling laboratory (9 weekly meetings, on Thursdays between May 15 and July 17) and the (under)stANDing, from May 16 to September 21, interspersing moments of assisted creation and individual experimentation. The training process culminates in the LANDscape retreat, from July 25 to August 2, with studio and outdoors activities, while the resident artists' creative process continues in August, in free summer residency mode, and in September (final accompaniments, assembly and final presentation).

In turn, the (under)stANDing line-interface forms a continuous plan of research and creation with the Modus Operandi AND, in which the methodology folds in on itself, thus maintaining itself as a living organism in constant (re)formulation. The name (under)stANDing points to a way of investigating-creating that deviates from interpretation and representation, committing itself to direct experience, to sustaining non-knowledge and to tuning in to embodied wisdoms, beyond the human illusion of the point of view.
